Publishing the Survey
The survey starts of as a working version - this lets you preview and look at changes. However the preview does not collect permanent data.
To do this you need to select the 'Deploy Tab', then 'Publish'.
Clicking Publish creates a fixed survey version from the current working version. The first time you publish the survey will be marked as version 1.
Any further changes to the working version will not have any effect on the live version until you publish again.
After publishing you will see an activity screen that shows how responses to the survey are being collected.
Producing a Survey Link
In order to invite respondents to the survey, you need to create a survey link.
Clicking on 'Invitiations', under the 'Deploy tab brings up a screen with the invitation streams, by default a single invitation stream is shown, this is the 'anonymous link'
The Anonymous Link
clicking the anonymous link stream shows you the link you should use to invite people to the survey. The link looks something like:
This link is ideal for a piloting a survey via a bulk email invitation of a link from a website when you don't care about controlling the sample or preventing re-submission.
Multiple Anonymous links can be created, each one will have a slightly different link. This is useful for tracking the origin of the respondents. For example, you might create one link for an email, a different one for a newsletter. This way you can track the origin see the relative effectiveness of each.
